Portion of I-79 to be restricted to single-lane in Cranberry

Traffic patterns will temporarily change Tuesday for drivers using Interstate 79 northbound, PennDOT announced.
Vehicles will be detoured onto temporary lanes overnight while crews work to replace the bridge over North Boundary Road in Cranberry Township. Work is expected to last from 8 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday, between the Route 528 and Route 228 interchanges.
During the switch, traffic will be restricted to one lane, and motorists should expect delays.
The construction is part of a two-year $14.6 million project that stretches from between mile markers 80.5 and 81.4. Imperial-based Golden Triangle Construction is completing the work.
In its initial phase last year, the two-lane steel bridge on I-79 southbound was replaced.
