The North Hills School District will employ social-distancing measures during a public graduation ceremony for members of the class of 2020, officials announced.
Commencement is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 30 at Martorelli Stadium. The rain date for the ceremony is May 31 at the same time.
To abide by social-distancing guidelines to protect the health of people attending, each graduate will receive a scheduled time during which they should report to the stadium. The time slots are expected to be mailed out the week of May 18.
Graduates are only permitted to invite four family members to the ceremony. Those attending are encouraged to travel to the event in the same vehicle and everybody will be required to wear a protective mask.
Graduates who want to participate in the ceremony must RSVP by filling out an online form by May 13. Additional details about the event and the restrictions that will be in place are available on the school district’s website.
The ceremony will be live-streamed on the North Hills School District’s YouTube channel, and pictures and videos will be shared throughout the day on social media.
The commencement also will be be recorded to create a video that will be sent to families in June. The video will include speeches from high school Principal Kevin McKiernan; school board President Allison Mathis; and Averie Peet, president of the class of 2020.
