La Roche University in McCandless is hosting a series of diversity and cultural activities throughout November to mark International Education Week, a joint initiative of the U.S. State and Education departments that recognizes the importance of international education and student exchange worldwide.

For the third year, the university is expanding International Education Week into a month-long celebration with on-campus events featuring educational opportunities and fun.

“La Roche is a place where students, faculty and staff from around the world come together,” said Emily Markham, assistant director of global engagement.

“International Education Month places a spotlight on this cultural diversity and provides a platform to build a greater global awareness and cultural understanding across the University and throughout the community.”

Some of the planned activities include sampling coffees from around the world, viewing segments and participating in a discussion of the documentary “We are Witnesses: Becoming an American,” a food truck festival, a study abroad photo contest, board games from around the world and a language learning day.
